Pfannenstiel Hike

Join us for the best hike in the canton of Zurich

We will start the hike at the shores of Lake Zurich in Küsnacht, walk uphill and pass by Alexanderstein (a big fat old stone that came rolling down from the mountains during the Ice Ages), visit the Wulp castle ruins (built during the Middle Ages and destroyed somewhere in between then and now), admire some cute waterfalls while walking steadily uphill towards Pfannenstiel, which is almost as high as Uetliberg. Up there, we will enjoy a panoramic view over Zurich's three biggest lakes Zürichsee, Greifensee and Pfäffikersee, and will have a small break and eat our picnic. Finally, we will go down towards Meilen, following the beautiful Meilemer Tobel, pass by yet another medieval ruin, the Burgruine Friedberg. From Meilen, we will sail back to Zurich on a ZSG boat, where we will be able to enjoy a beer during our ride.

The whole event (hike, breaks, boat, etc.) will last between 5 and 6 hours, depending on our pace. We will be back at Zurich Bellevue at 17h35.

You will receive an email with all information about the exact meeting point and the time.

Please bring:

  • Picnic, snacks, and drinks for yourself. We recommend taking a bottle of water with you.
  • Hiking shoes are not required, but the path can be a bit muddy in some places.

You will need to buy tickets for the way back to Zurich. Please be aware that depending on your public transport card, you may need to pay for additional zones. We will communicate more details in the upcoming email.
